This one comes from 2006 I believe. When I was making this one I figured out how to use my negatives to create some sort of artificial lighting. Basically I would underexpose the source and then use the texture to darken the background. Pretty cool right? This one was one of my few lucky photos where my effects actually lined up the way I wanted right away without hours of tweaking. The cracks formed just how I was hoping, also leaving that hole in the subjects head which reminds me of a few things!
This is the "Enmeshed Man" from 1972 by Naomi Savage (b. 1927). The cracks obviously are what these two have in common, but this isn't exactly a photograph, it's a photographic etching. This picture is actually printed on a metal plate which the cracks are etched into.
Another one that it reminds me of is "The Photojournalist" from 1955 by Andreas Feininger (b. 1906). I'm sure you can see the relation, but the fact of the matter is whenever I see my picture it just makes me think of one thing:
